ALISA KOVALENKO

Alisa Kovalenko is a Ukrainian film director, born in Zaporizhia, Southern Ukraine, resides in Kyiv. She graduated from the Kyiv Karpenko-Karyi National University of Theatre, Cinematography, and Television and the Andrzej Wajda Cinema School in Warsaw. Her first feature-documentary, Alisa in Warland, premiered at the IDFA Amsterdam competition in 2015. Alisa’s second documentary, Home Games, was again an IDFA selection, shown at more than 120 festivals, and it was the first Ukrainian creative film acquired by Netflix. Alisa became a member of the European Film Academy (EFA) in 2019. She is the programmer of the documentary competition in Kyiv’s Molodist Film Festival. In March 2022 she went to fight for her country in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
